About this Regulatory Status Disclosure
Ampirico Consulting, LLC is an independent research and development tax advisory and consulting firm. We specialize in the technical analysis of research and development activities, the quantification of qualified research expenditures, and the preparation of supporting documentation for research and development tax credit claims.
Not a Certified Public Accounting Firm
We are not a certified public accounting firm licensed in California or any other jurisdiction, and we do not hold ourselves out as one. We do not provide audit, attest, compilation, or review services requiring licensure as a certified public accountant. Where any of our personnel or contractors holds a CPA license or other professional license, that does not make Ampirico a certified public accounting firm, and no such person provides audit, attest, compilation, or review services on our behalf.
Not a Law Firm
We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, legal opinions, or representation in litigation.
Tax Returns
We do not prepare, file, or sign federal or state tax returns unless expressly agreed in writing. Responsibility for the preparation, accuracy, and filing of tax returns - including Forms 6765 and 3800 and any applicable state forms - rests with the taxpayer and its licensed tax return preparer. We may coordinate with a client’s certified public accountant or other licensed tax professional so that our calculations can be incorporated into a filed return; that coordination is not the provision of services requiring CPA licensure.
Representation Before Tax Authorities
We do not provide formal representation before the Internal Revenue Service or any state taxing authority, and we do not act under a power of attorney, including IRS Form 2848.
Where a client’s research and development tax credit claim is examined, our role is limited to technical and documentary support - preparing technical explanations, analyses, and draft responses to information requests for submission by the client or by a representative the client appoints. Formal representation must be undertaken by a certified public accountant, enrolled agent, attorney, or other person authorized to practice before that authority. Subject to the terms of the applicable engagement agreement, we will work with any such representative appointed by the client.
